The device has amazing capabilities and I’m quite happy with it. It twists like a proper speedcubing cube does though it would have been even better if the cube didn’t have rounded corners as it makes it a bit harder to grip.
The app’s UI doesn’t feel great, it feels like a crossplatform app. I’m impressed with its statistics tracking capabilities, it even tries to detect what solving algorithm I’m using (usually successfully). It’s still missing some features and could be made more “native” but I’ll keep this review short by not listing every single thing that can be made better. It’s software, so can be improved at a later point, which I hope the makers will do.

I bought this for a 15yo who loves the Rubik’s cube. She has really enjoyed timing herself and playing with the cube.

I really like the ‘Solo’ timing feature. There are some extra online games that are pretty fun. I would only look for some additional ability to play with the LED lights a little more. (I’m guessing that possible when the app is updated?)

I reviewed a lot of other designs and this i found was the best. It has the better features, handles really well and the interface offered the best all round enjoyment. Hope this helps others to decide

Can teach very easily especially if you have an iPhone or tablet to pair and use. Very cool app and product for the Rubik nerds!

The app is good, I will love that they will implement a CFOP tutorial. For advanced users. Please we need a CFOP academy!!!

I liked how smooth it is to turn. I like how it lights up. Also, the way it charges sitting on its stand. I will say however, you need to have someone in the house who knows how to solve it already. As it can be very confusing at first. So it’ll help if you can get a bit of a nudge here and there to get stuck in properly.

WONDERFUL! Had a Gan 356 i3, and never got it to link to the app. No support from them unless you send videos (won’t help with photos, screenshots, & descriptions). Just got my Go Cube, charged for a few hours & after downloading the app, it linked in under 2 minutes and works perfectly. I can’t tell you how frustrated I was with Gan. THANK YOU GO CUBE!

Mittlerweile mein neuer main Cube.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this for myself and my kids this Christmas. I used to be able to solve the cube, but it’s been years and wanted to learn again. My kids seemed mildly happy to get it as a gift, but then I challenged my kids to follow the instructions, solve it 10 times and I’d give them $20. My 11 year old daughter dove in and got completely addicted! She memorized all of the algorithms on the first day and have solved it around 50 times, maybe more, in the last 3 days. She’s constantly pushing herself to improve on her solve times and today solved it for the first time in under 1m30s. Obviously not going to solve any world records, but this is only her 3rd day and she is COMPLETELY ADDICTED!

I would highly recommend this to anyone with kids! It’s a fantastic way to get them off social media and doing something that challenges their brain. A must have in my opinion!

    Absolutely love it!

We brought this for my 10 year old son who has been asking for a Rubik’s cube for over a year but as none of us know how to solve one we thought it would be a 2 minute toy he would mix up & then after a few attempts give up & discard, so when this popped up while I was looking for a rubiks I done some research & after reading & watching some reviews decided to purchase it.
Well it is amazing, worth every penny.
Once he had run through the tutorial & got the idea of the moves he started following it easily. He then started challenging people online who were at the same level as him. He played with this for a few hours straight until we asked him to join in a family game.
Highly recommend this for beginners & really impressed that as he gets better he can look at his stats and compete with people who are a higher level too.
    Worth every penny!!!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI have been taunted by Rubik’s cubes for decades. From the time I was a 7 years old, these bright, colourful cubes that I could never solve have been a blight on my existence. You have no idea how much I longed to solve this thing, and hated being unable to!

I received my GoCube yesterday and immediately started with The Academy on the app. I didn’t realize at the time that the stages I was unlocking were actually the steps by which you would solve a scrambled cube. The orientation of the cube in the app kept going wonky, so I recalibrated often to fix that.

Once I had the right hand and left hand moves down, it felt more like muscle memory than active thought in performing them. I watched the video walkthroughs for each step multiple times. Hearing the explanation which seeing the demonstrator perform the moves helped so much. I absolutely needed that moving visual to understand what was going on.

I’ve been playing with my GoCube for just about 24 hours at the time of writing this review. I’m now able to solve scrambled cubes without having to refer to the walkthroughs. The app and GoCube are absolutely amazing, and I am 100% confident that together they allowed me to pick this up so quickly after years of frustration.

There are other bells and whistles as well. The GoCube lights up with white light. The app has a number of games that you can play using the Cube as a controller. You can compete against other GoCube owners in solving the Cube. There’s so much to do that even if you get bored with one game, you can play one of the others. The GoCube came with a lovely display stand that you can also connect the Cube’s charger to, and a black, velvet bag when you want to take your Cube out with you. The packaging was also very nice. The box is a black cube that has a magnetic closure, and it makes a very presentable gift.

I cannot recommend this Rubik’s Cube highly enough. I love mine so much, and I am so pleased that I decided to purchase it. I’m sure you if you’ve always wanted to master the Cube, you will love it too!

I recently purchased the GoCube Edge and I’m impressed with the quality of the cube and the app. I’ve bought it to help me to solve the cube and so far the learner items are easy to follow and enjoyable. I can only assume that I will get into it more in time and have lots of fun solving the cubes from the algorithms learnt

    Highly recommend

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst things first, this cube is great, for beginners it is so smooth to turn and snaps into position with the built in magnets, have already dropped it a couple times and no problems so far, very sturdy, and then the whole app connectivity gimmick is a stroke of genius, is so cool to see and is a great conversation starter, is worth every penny in my eyes.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis product is amazing. Not in the slightest is there a single flaw. Never seen anything like it. I got it just day before yesterday, and I’ve spent about two hours on it. Let’s focus on the beforehand, when you are just buying it. The shipping is great, it comes with air pillows to make sure it doesn’t get damaged while delivery, and it shipped amazingly fast (four days). (I chose the “free shipping” option WITHOUT amazon prime) When you do get it, the packaging is phenomenal and intuitive to find out where everything is. Very easy to set up. All you need to do is download the FREE app, compatible on ANY device (I don’t recommend computer!) But try mobile devices instead. (I use iPad because it has a big screen) Phone works well too. It’s good for any level of cubers, whether you’re an intermediate, beginner, or pro. I say this because there is literally a system of teaching the beginner method of the cube. (I already know how to solve the cube but I decided to try it out anyway.) If you are a bit more advanced, solve the cube in less than 30 seconds to unlock a hard mode. By hard mode I mean that there is a literal way to compete against other gocube users around the globe! That brings me to the phrase “hard mode.” It’s a matchmaking system that tests out your abilities. Solving the cube in less than a certain amount of time will unlock another mode. For example, if you need a bit more of a challenge, solve the cube in less than 30 seconds to unlock a mode where only more advanced cubers will be able to join and compete with you. There are leaderboards not only for solving the cube fast, but also for scrambling fast as well. Aside from going multiplayer, there are singleplayer things you can do in the app, such as games that make you a better cuber and are very fun. If that wasn’t enough, the rotations you do on the cube literally show up on the screen in the app. Furthermore, there aren’t any in-app purchases, and neither are there any ads whatsoever. The only things you have to do to start up the cube when you first get on the app is to choose the cube around you (the app scans for gocubes nearby you with bluetooth) and sign in! I definitely recommend if you have a passion for learning or showing off some skill on cubing. One last thing to make sure you don’t do is to not rotate the cube until you are fully into the app. If you do move it by accident, it’s completely fine though, but it will waste about five minutes of your time.
TLDR: designed for any level of cubers, exceptionally intuitive to use, and overall is loads of fun! Definitely recommend as a gift for absolutely anyone!

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI received this cube for Christmas and love it. I already knew how to solve the cube so was unable to use the learning feature. However, based on how-easy to-use the rest of the app was, I bet this feature would be able to teach you if that is your desire. Going off of that, the app is very easy to use, and I have not had a single problem connecting the cube or charging it either. The battery life is also very good, lasting for hours. You can do multiple sessions without having to charge it. The cube sensors when turning the sides are also very reliable, and in the nearly 300 solves I have done with the cube so far, the sensors have not failed a single time. The cube itself is unique, but still very good. To start off, like all modern/high end speed cubes today, it is magnetic. For me, the magnets don’t feel too weak or too strong. The curved edges are nice and add a unique feature to this cube, however this along with the smooth feel of this cube leads to a problem. Sometimes, one of my fingers may slip and I either drop the cube or have to reposition it in my hand, or worse, I will turn layers that I didn’t mean to turn and loose track of where I am in an algorithm and have to redo steps. This is a downfall, however it is rare and I do not think it is a reason for you to not get this cube. One side note, this cube does weigh 124 grams which is a lot. This was likely something that they couldn’t do much about when designing the cube, so I must let it slide. With this said, it is also something that I don’t feel should discourage you from getting this cube. Turns just require a little more force to perform. I can still easily do U2 in one motion on it. Another downfall to this cube is the lights. They advertise the lights as a great feature to be able to use the cube in the dark, however you can’t. The lights are completely useless. In bright, mild, and dark lighting conditions, the lights are unusable. When you turn the lights on, red and orange look identical, and white and yellow are hard to differentiate between as well. Even when adjusting the brightness setting, there is no difference. This is really disappointing and I am upset to see this feature not be usable. The other big downfall is something I’m not even sure of how it works. To explain it, on my screen, a persons cube will show it still being scrambled, but it will give me a loss and them a win. I don’t know what this is, wether an app connection error when displaying the other persons cube, or something else. I have reason to believe it’s something else. When this happens to me, a pattern I notice every time is that the person spams moves, getting upwards of 300-400 moves, and this is way above the amount of moves it should take to solve a cube. In addition, they would have to complete this number of calculated move in half a second. I thinks this is just a bug but its super frustrating and is my biggest annoyance of everything. I really hope this gets fixed. The final and most small detail is the stand. Now, I want to emphasize that I might be doing something wrong, but the charger does reach the charging holes when the cube is in the stand. I didn’t see myself using the stand to charge the cube because I don’t display it near an outlet, but when setting it up when first opening the cube, it wouldn’t reach. I did not read the direction or put much time into setting up the stand as I knew I would not use it in this way, but when just following the image, it did not work. All these things should not deter you from buying the cube as they are all small little details. The lights are a huge issue and need to be fixed, along with the app bug, but be honest, how often would you cube in the dark. This was every issue I could think of about this cube just so you could know all the downfalls (at least all to my knowledge) The cube is great and this review in no way intended for you to not buy the cube. In fact, I 99% recommend it. The cube is so much fun. I know this review sounds negative, but I wanted to to point out every small problem I have found so you know completely about what your buying. For every one of these small nuisances, I can name so many other good things about this cube. It honestly amazing and such a cubing milestone/accomplishment. Happy Cubing!

Really nice product and good quality but if you want to solve it might time you cannot really distinguish the difference between red/ orange or white/ yellow when the cube has the light ON. They should have put some grooves or small marks that you can feel with the fingers. I have to put the lights in the room to solve it. I hope this issue gets sorted in the future as part from that it is amazing.

I’ve now done about 1000 solves on my go cube and feel I have a good understanding of how it works. For context I can solve the cube with a PB of 22seconds and average 35 seconds.

    Beginners
I did the tutorial just for the sake of it. I can see how it would be really useful for those learning and is perfect for people of all ages. It really breaks it down nicely.

There is access to an algorithm book to refer to, the app has a “solver” section for anybody who can’t complete it yet but has OCD about a solved cube.

    Intermediate/advanced
I have mixed feelings. The app itself provides no advanced tutorials. No guides for different solve methods such as CFOP, Roux, ZZ, Petrus. So don’t expect it.
Positives for this level of cuber:
-If you are roux/cfop solver it does have a breakdown of solve times from cross speed, pair, OLL & PLL (and equivalent for Roux).
    – It easily record and tracks times
    – The cube itself is reasonably good.
    – can be linked to third party apps such as customer or cubeast for deeper analysis

    Bad
    – so many simple implementations are missing
    – no ao100
    – you are stuck with 15 second inspection, no option to increase this to practice cross
    – the cube WILL need lubrication
    – no tention customisation and the magnets are strong making it a very noisy cube
    – The BIGGEST issue for me is the pillow shape, push moves are very hard to execute especially D moves. It’s no good as a main cube because of its unusuak shape for those practicing for competitions. I’m tempted to purchase the Rubik’s Connected just to solve this issue.
    – I could go on with niggles but I want.

    Overall
I only started Cubing for fun, have no intention of entering competitions and therefore an concede several issues. It’s got me Cubing more and I’m forever pushing for better times.

For a beginner or child I wouldn’t hesitate. Better this than a phone or iPad. Especially if you can’t solve one already.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a stunning cube, and very smart.
It’s nice to solve, never locks up.
Best to use this with the app to capture your times.
Great for beginners as the app will teach you to solve it.
It shows you how to solve it in 20 moves.
The Gan 356i is a faster, more fluent cube, but is not as nice, or fun as this.
This thing lights up, but don’t expect to solve it in the dark as it doesn’t shine through the tiles (boo).
But, this is worth buying if you want a Bluetooth cube that you can play online.
    Thank you to the seller.

Great cube for beginners or for those wanting to improve their speed. Great tutorial that walks you through the each step of the cube, leading to up to how to solve it
Also the mini games are fun as well.
Once you feel confident enough you can test yourself against others, either with the algorithm or without for those who know the algorithms.
You can also time yourself from scrambled to solve.
Lastly for those who get it NOW!! YOU can complete in the Virtual Red Bull Tournament.

Sometimes you may have to resync the cube.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI can remember back to 1979 when I became aware of the Rubiks Cube for the first time. Over the years I’d tried it and only ever managed to get one side only. Fast forward 40 years and I bought the GoCube in the hope it would help me with achieving a long time ambition. It did. Within a month I could solve the cube, all be it a bit slow. Two months down the line my personal best is 1:30.7 and getting quicker.

If you have any doubts about it, don’t, you won’t be disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this as a Father’s Day present and it was a huge hit. You can play with the cube on its own, or pair it with the corresponding app and work your way through the lessons. Sometimes the cube and the app don’t sync up properly, and you will need to manually fill in the orientation of the colours on the app. But that doesn’t take long and is a minor issue that doesn’t take away from its appeal. The cube itself is pleasantly light and glides smoothly when you turn it. The colours are vibrant and it looks really visually appealing. When you solve the cube using the app, the cube lights up and flashes which is fun. It didn’t take long for the recipient of this gift to master the cube by working through the lessons and now is on to the app’s other challenges. Recommended.

Amazing bit of tech! We have two in our family, my son is an expert and can solve in seconds and I am new to this. It suits us both, he can race against others and I can learn how to solve the cube by following the instructions. It links to your phone really easily and does so much more than a normal cube. Whilst this “smart cube” is perhaps a little on the expensive side, in my opinion it is definitely worth the money. The user interface is great, and the feel of the cube is right up there with some of my higher end speed cubes. If you are trying to learn or improve your times, this is definitely worth buying. No regrets here.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Users*It brings more funs and challenges to my families which enhanced the family relationship.*

    My Thought:
Firstly, the app integration is absolutely stunning, I never seen such beautiful artificial intelligence, that works incredible well. It is very beginner friendly and come with easy tutorials to boost up your problem solving skills. The LED light looks futuristic at night and it is very comfortable to play with. Not to mention it also come with charging dock looks good on my desk as awesome decoration.

    CONS:
One downside Is little bit over priced but it is worth it, if price tag is between 50-70 I would definitely recommend this product. Another problem that I encountered is a software bug, sometime when I messed up the cube, the app won’t recognise the current cube status therefore you have to manually adjust that in app settings, Im pretty sure this software issues and can be fix in the future update.

    RETHINK:
Now in day, instead buying video games, why not spend money on some “real adult toys”? Well, think again.

Absolutely best toy for your kids and families. Brain traine

At first we couldn’t make the cube and the app work together, but suggestions from both the retailer and the maker worked; they couldn’t have been more helpful and the issue was resolved after the first e-mail (v quick response time, too – thank you!). Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirst off, you don’t need to know how to solve a cube before you buy this!

This is a brilliant speed cube (ie really smooth, magnets to stop over rotation etc) plus a back light for using in low light.

I love mine, I could already solve the cube and had it down to 2 minutes. With this I’ve cut my time down to under 55 seconds in 2 weeks.

Shows you in depth stats so you can find which moves you need to work on, what your turns per second are, what your idle time is etc….

Play online against other people or friends, learn new moves in the Academy which teaches you step by step how to solve it.

Let it show you the steps to get to a completed cube too.

All in all a brilliant cube and suitable for everyone. Sure it seems expensive I suppose, but I for one think its definitely worth the money.
